During the first Lockdown I had the pleasure of taking on Kerry as a nutrition coaching client. Kerry had decided she was ready to take back control of her body and regain control of her eating after having two gorgeous little babes in the space of 3 years. She took part in 8 weeks of nutrition coaching and I couldn't be more proud of what she's achieved.
Here's her story...
"I lost weight, but more importantly I have a healthier relationship with food, a better understanding of portion control and habits that I feel have changed my life.
I’m a mother of two little gremlins under the age of 3. I found it easier to put my self bottom of the list in regards to self care, nutrition and my general well being. After my second baby I found myself desperate to regain control over my body - feel better about my appearance and improve my energy levels.
Tiff couldn’t have offered me a place on her nutrition course at a better time - I was ready to make a change to my eating habits, I wanted to commit to a programme and this was the perfect opportunity.
In the beginning, I had some informal chats with Tiff about what I wanted to achieve through the nutrition course, as always, she made me feel completely relaxed and at ease. I set out my aims: lose weight, feel less tired, improve my mood - and excited, I began my first habit set out by Tiff which was to use the app provided on the course to make a food journal. The app is so easy to use, and Tiff could actively coach me through my food choices, noticed what ‘triggers’ encouraged over eating, and could advise me on what food groups I needed more of. Not only did I record my meals, but how I felt as I ate them - was I rushed? Distracted?
From the get go, Tiff encouraged me to eat mindfully and as the weeks progressed I used different habits to address how I felt when I ate, to practice eating slowly and eat till I was full.
Each habit effectively helped me to progress to a point where I don’t even think about actively eating mindfully now. Even with the every day distractions life throws at you, I prioritise meal planning, eating slowly and practicing potion control. My energy levels improved dramatically from eating whole foods and cutting down on processed options. Portion control was made easy by measuring with your hand - something you take everywhere, so no barriers or excuses for over eating. And the accountability to Tiff as my coach made me feel like I had a direct line to advice and support - the weekly check ins over the phone kept me motivated and focussed.
